Description

After completing AIRDIF, most teams face the same problem.

They have a readiness score. They have 15-20 AI opportunities on a whiteboard. And they have no structured way to decide which one goes first.

So they guess. Or they defer to whoever argued the loudest. Or they pick the one that sounds most impressive — and regret it six months later.

AIPIF was built for exactly this moment.

Stage 2 of the AIDEX suite, AIPIF, takes your AIRDIF readiness scores and turns them into a ranked, weighted investment shortlist. Every AI use case gets scored independently across six dimensions. The result is a clear, evidence-backed answer to the question every leadership team asks after a readiness assessment: where do we start?

What Is AIPIF?

AIPIF is an Excel-based AI prioritisation framework. It evaluates up to 10 AI use cases using 48 diagnostic questions across 6 weighted dimensions — and produces a Priority Score for each one.

That score maps automatically to one of five investment tiers:

Tier 186–100%
Immediate InvestmentStrong fit across all dimensions. Take this to the board. Proceed to AIBCF™ for financial justification.
Tier 271–85%
Priority PilotGood readiness. Run a 90-day pilot and build the AIBCF™ business case in parallel.
Tier 356–70%
ConditionalPromising, but gaps exist. Address the weak dimensions, then re-score before committing budget.
Tier 436–55%
DeferredNot ready. Revisit in 6–12 months once readiness has improved.
Tier 50–35%
RejectedPoor strategic fit or too much risk. Do not invest. Reallocate resources elsewhere.

Every score is live-linked. Update a single input and the entire ranking dashboard recalculates instantly.

What Makes AIPIF Different

It starts where AIRDIF ends

AIPIF is not a standalone tool. It is the direct continuation of AIRDIF.

Your 10 AIRDIF section scores are imported into the Home tab and flow directly into every use case scoring sheet — particularly into Data Readiness Fit, which anchors each use case to your actual data quality, not an assumption about it. If your AIRDIF data score was low, that weakness shows up in the scoring of every use case that depends on data-heavy AI.

This is the only AI prioritisation framework built on top of a completed readiness assessment. That distinction matters.

Weighted scoring — not equal voting

Six dimensions score each use case. They do not carry equal weight — and that is intentional.

Strategic Value carries 25% because strategic misalignment is the single most common reason AI investments underdeliver. Implementation Ease and Data Readiness Fit each carry 20% because execution complexity and data gaps are where most AI pilots stall before they start.

The remaining 30% is split across Time to Value (15%), Risk Profile (10%), and Scalability Potential (10%). Weights are fully adjustable on the Home tab.

Financial return is deliberately excluded

AIPIF does not score financial return. This is a design decision, not a gap.

Running ROI modelling on 15 different use cases wastes time and creates false precision at the wrong stage. AIPIF™’s job is to identify which use cases are worth a full financial analysis — not to conduct one. ROI, NPV, payback, and cost-benefit analysis are handled in AIBCF (Stage 3 of AIDEX). Only Tier 1 and Tier 2 use cases advance to that stage.

The 6 Scoring Dimensions

# Dimension What It Measures
1  Strategic Value Does this use case support your top priorities and create competitive advantage?
2 Implementation Ease  Can it be deployed with available resources? Can you pilot it in 90 days?
3  Data Readiness Fit Does your actual AIRDIF data score support this specific use case?
4  Time to Value  Can you see measurable results within 6 months?
5  Risk Profile  Is the regulatory, ethical, and operational risk manageable?
6 Scalability Potential  Can this grow beyond the initial use case and compound in value over time?

Each dimension is scored across 8 questions on a 1–5 scale. Scores convert to percentages, weights are applied, and the Priority Score is calculated automatically.

💡 Note: Adjust weights on the Home tab to reflect your organisation’s context. A regulated financial institution might increase its risk profile weighting. A fast-scaling startup might weigh Time to Value higher. Built-in validation confirms the total stays at 100%.

Who AIPIF Is For

AIPIF is for leaders who already know AI can create value — and need a rigorous method for deciding where it creates value first.

It is most valuable for:

  • CEOs and Strategy Teams who need a board-ready rationale for AI investment sequencing — not a gut feel
  • CIOs and Digital Transformation Leaders managing a backlog of competing AI initiatives with limited implementation capacity
  • CFOs and Finance Leaders who want to know which use cases are worth the cost of a full AIBCF™ financial model before commissioning one
  • AI Consultants and Advisory Firms looking for a structured, repeatable prioritisation diagnostic they can deploy across clients
  • PE and VC Portfolio Teams who need to rank AI opportunities across multiple portfolio companies with a consistent methodology

AIPIF is used after AIRDIF and before AIBCF. It is the decision layer between readiness and justification.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the assessment take?
Between 40 and 60 minutes for up to 10 use cases. Best completed by a small cross-functional group — the same people who completed AIRDIF. One person scores; others provide input.
Do I need to complete AIRDIF first?
Yes. AIPIF is designed to follow AIRDIF. Your AIRDIF section scores are imported directly into the model and shape the Data Readiness Fit scoring across every use case. Without them, you lose the readiness anchor that makes AIPIF more accurate than a generic prioritisation matrix.
Can I adjust the weights for my industry?
Yes. The Home tab lets you adjust all six weights freely. Built-in validation flags if the total drifts from 100%. Weights update scores and tier classifications instantly.
What happens if a veto gate is triggered?
A veto gate is a diagnostic signal, not a permanent rejection. The interpretation guide explains what caused the veto, what risks it indicates, and what actions are required to resolve it. Most organizations can close veto-related gaps within 3–9 months through focused improvement efforts.
Why is financial return not scored?
Because at this stage, you do not yet know enough to model it reliably. AIPIF™ identifies which use cases deserve a financial model. AIBCF™ (Stage 3) builds that model. Mixing the two stages produces bad prioritisation and mediocre financial models.
Is AIPIF a subscription?
No. It is a one-time purchase. Existing AIRDIF customers receive a discount.

About Finwiserr

Finwiserr is a specialist advisory firm helping corporate and technology leaders make smarter decisions at the intersection of finance, strategy, and emerging technology.

AIPIF came from watching the same thing happen too many times: a leadership team completes a readiness assessment, identifies a dozen AI opportunities, and then spends three months in circular debate about which one to pursue.

We built the framework that ends that conversation.
